Nintendo confirmed this week via official Twitter that a Mario movie is in the works.
The animated film starring everyone’s favourite Italian plumber will be co-produced by Nintendo’s game designer and producer, Shigeru Miyamoto, and Chris Meledandri from Illumination, the studio behind Despicable Me and the ever-popular Minions.
According to the Japan Times, Shigeru Miyamoto spoke to reporters on Thursday stating that the script is mostly finished and promising a ‘fun’ movie.
Apart from this, very little is known about the project including no word about a release date. But a Shigeru Miyamoto parody account had an idea about who should voice the titular role.
In the meantime you can watch this real life version of the Mario world being skilfully cleared by a hamster.
