WTF!? This Kid Is Sitting On The Most Biological Chair Ever
The internet is chuck full of adorable images and precious videos. Personally, one of my favorite haunts is r/Eyebleach. This Reddit community shares heartwarming posts such as puppies sharing breakfast and hamsters pondering the meaning of life.
And it's extremely popular. The subreddit boasts over 1.9 million users. When the news of the day gets you down, it's reassuring to know there is a community lifting up themselves together.
r/Eyebleach is seemingly a Western phenomenon, but Japanese web surfers have the same need. Spend enough time in grape’s animal section, and you’ll see what I mean. We wrote about the cat baffled by cold snow, a bulldog and a kitten becoming quick friends, and a Shiba Inu dog obsessed with a toddler's toy. My personal favorite is the phone charger cable for an acrobatic hamster, but there are countless to choose from.
In Japan, the demand for “the cute" is genuine. A lot of commercial design focuses on huggable mascots and baby-faced characters. For a good reason: it seems anyone is up for “ahhhh” inspiring media in this country. I’ve certainly passed many a lunch break cooing adorable puppy videos with colleagues instead of getting back to my desk. After all, there are more important things than work.
To Be a Kid Again
As far as animals are concerned, it seems the obvious actors get way more than their fair share of the attention. Websites like the cutestpaw.com are awash with cat photos, puppy photos, and so on. YouTube and Instagram, on the other hand, are chuck full of charming baby posts.
But what about baby goats, AKA kids. In my experience, they are as cute as any other baby animal, but massively underrepresented online.
Well, one Twitter user aims to fix that. Yagi no Hito ヤギの人 (@yusai00), the goat person, shares their obsession with the world. The handle posts goat-centered media found online or made by the user.
While The Kids are Asleep
Yagi no Hito clearly understands that a sleepy baby goat is painfully heartwarming. Just like all of us come midday, its time to take a nap. This all-white kid cuddles up with its bearded friend and cannot contain itself any longer.
I catch myself yawning, too.
These guys also look pretty tuckered out.
This nap-time trio touched followers. Here are some of their reactions:
“Good morning. That certainly is a cute gathering.”
“How are they possibly this cute?”
“An angel is watching over them."
“Ahhh. Morning time healing. Thank you so much.”
I'm sure you realize that sleepy baby goats are awesome, but here is one more just because I can't contain myself—two friends before bed.
Chomping on Cherry Blossoms
It's currently cherry blossom season in Japan. Although this year's celebrations are subdued, it's typically a great time to be in Japan. Everyone is in high spirits, and light pink blossoms in the afternoon sun are incredibly photogenic, even more so with goats.
From the looks of it, Yagi no Hito managed to take a few of their friends out for a hanami picnic. While they likely missed out on a bento box and certainly passed on the sake, there was still plenty to munch. Have a look:
That’s certainly a happy goat.
Indeed, everyone loves a springtime picnic.
While this one has finished lunch, it makes for a handsome photo.
And maybe just one more.
A Day in the Life
To be honest, I don't know what drives a goat to be a goat. I'm sadly not friends with any IRL. But I thought these tweets speak to how they spend their days.
I thought she was going to fall there for a second. Pretty smooth recovery.
This guy seems a bit shy, hiding in a waterway and behind a tree.
And of course, baby loves mommy.
Cute Collection
Like any other cute-connoisseur, Yagi no Hito’s allegiance is to the adorable. As such, it's necessary to leave the world of goats and branch out from time to time. After all, there are some great tweets to be tweeted.
Here are some more charming characters the Twitter handle has featured. For example, these guys have on their Sunday best.
In Japan, foxes are considered tricksters, causing havoc and stealing tofu from udon—it's a long story. Nevertheless, it seems these funsters don't mind being tickled. Have to admit, however, that this camera person is pretty brave.
Others are preparing for the 2021 Olympics.
But we all aren't quite as graceful.
