New UNIQLO Pokémon T-Shirts are iconic

Pokémon is one of Japan’s most iconic franchises. Spanning 24 years, 8 generations and nearly 900 creatures, the series continues to capture the hearts and imaginations of fans across the world. With new fans spawning faster than Zubat in a dark cave, it raises the question, what does the future look like for Pokémon ?

A new line of Pokemon T-shirts from UNIQLO whose design is themed around the future of Pokemon engages with this very question however, in eye-catching style. The new Pokemon T-shirts have been designed by popular artist Daniel Arsham and depict the world of Pokemon if it was unearthed in 3020 AD! Pokemon x Daniel Arsham T-shirts

The new T-shirts are a collaboration between Pokemon and Daniel Arsham, a contemporary American artist whose works reimagine pop-culture over time. Arsham is the first amongst a number of artists to be given access to the franchise's vast archives of material as part of a project to create new works of contemporary Pokémon art. The collaboration has been brought to market through UNIQLO’s UT line of popular limited edition graphic shirts.

Based on Arsham’s concept of “fictional archaeology”, the T-shirts are embossed with Pokemon reimagined as crystallized artifacts discovered 1000 years in the future. The shirts feature several different designs that differ across men’s, women’s and children’s sizes and styles. Unless Pokefans can morph their bodies like ditto, unfortunately, they can’t wear them all. Luckily, everyone can appreciate the striking sketched designs:

Of the collaboration between Pokemon, himself and UNIQLO, Arsham said:

I really sympathize with UNIQLO’s consistent concept of accessibility. The reason my work uses iconic images is so that it can be enjoyed by many different people. I’m really happy that I can present my work to so many people through Pokemon as it has been a big part of my life since I was younger.
