Japan is the undisputed home of eccentric snack variations. But sometimes, like in the case of these ramen-flavoured Pringles, the strange snack combinations just make sense. What’s not to love about an alliance between potato chips and Japan’s most iconic noodle dish?
It’s a perfect match, so no wonder it’s not the first time ramen Pringles have ever appeared in Japan. For example, in 2018, Pringles teamed up with an instant noodle company to release a Torigara Shoyu Ramen flavour snack.
This latest addition is also shoyu ramen-based, but with a taste twist. The new flavour showcases the distinct flavour found in the dashi (seafood stock) unique to the Kanto region of Japan, creating the 'Kanto Dashi Shoyu Ramen Pringles'.
The hard-hitting flavour has been formulated so that the unmistakable scent of ramen hits you as soon as you open the lid and instantly transports you to one of Kanto’s steamy ramen stands. Even the packaging reflects this appetising scene, with the design showing a Pringle who resembles a seasoned ramen chef, serving you up a piping hot bowl of noodles, set against a backdrop of Tokyo’s famous sights.
But you can’t just stroll into your local supermarket or convenience store to grab your ramen Pringles. This rare treat is being stocked exclusively in special vending machines, one thousand of which have been stationed in various shopping malls, amusement parks, cinemas and department stores around Japan.
Although the vending machines aren't temporary, this vending machine-exclusive flavour is, so if you want to try it for yourself get searching now!
