Character and anime-themed rooms are a fun way to combine your hobbies and passions with your accommodations when you visit Japan. If you love Hello Kitty and have visited or have been living in Japan in the past few years, then you may recall the Hello Kitty-themed rooms at the Keio Plaza Hotel chain which we introduced last year.
Now, another major hotel chain is welcoming the iconic Sanrio character, and this time in one of the most famous and popular tourist destinations of Tokyo, the Asakusa neighborhood.
Hello Kitty-themed rooms at Asakusa Tobu Hotel
After you've visited the famous sights of Asakusa such as the Kaminarimon gates, the Nakamise-Doori shopping arcade and the Sensoji Temple, and perhaps even hopped on a rickshaw for a tour of the neighborhood, you can unwind and enjoy your stay at the brand-new Asakusa Tobu Hotel in Hello Kitty style:

From August 24th, 2020, you will be able to reserve one of two adorable Hello Kitty-themed rooms at the Asakusa Tobu Hotel:
Sakura Tennyo 桜天女
This room features Japan's most famous flower, sakura, the cherry blossom. The tennnyo in the name means "celestial maiden," a general term in Buddhism for all goddesses. In addition to the sakura motif, the wallpaper on the walls and partitions feature Hello Kitty dressed up as a cute little Tennyo bringing happiness and good wishes to all travelers who stay in the room.
The room also has a Japanese zashiki style tatami matted area which you can enjoy.

Wa-Modern 和モダン
In this room fusing Western and traditional Japanese elements in the interior decoration, you'll be greeted by Hello Kitty wearing a contemporary print kimono. The "Wa-Modern" theme takes a hint from the "haikara" aesthetic ("fashionably Westernized," according to turn-of-the-20th-century Japanese sensibilities) still prevalent in the Asakusa neighborhood.
