I love going out to eat. Before the pandemic struck, every weekend was a chance to discover new restaurants and novel dishes—while weekdays were reserved for some good, ol’ fashion home cooking. If it's a simple table for two, choosing a restaurant is a relatively straightforward ordeal.

Sure enough, however, the situation is exponentially more difficult with a large group of friends. He doesn't like seafood; she can't stand spicy food; and everyone is a budget. More often than not, my friends and I just settle on the nearest and cheapest izakaya for a cheap, but mediocre meal.

And this is with a group of mature and reasonable adults. I can only imagine the endless deliberation and aggressive arguing that a family with young children must endure when deciding on a place to dine out.

Manga artist and mother, Emushitoemufujin (@mshimfujin) recently penned a piece centered upon this very problem. On a particular occasion, her family decided to enjoy a night out after a long week. As you might expect, however, they have a few difficulties along the way.

Kids can never make up their minds. It must be why there are always so many families eating in food courts at the mall.
