This mountain hot spring town may be Japan’s most photogenic winter wonderland
Japanese photographer Hisa (@Hisa0808) continues to astound us all with his knack for capturing beautiful scenes across Japan.
You may have come across some of his photos before when scrolling through Twitter or Instagram.
Hisa’s Fall Photography
This time Hisa brings us images from the mysterious Namego Valley.
The secluded area is found well south of Nara City in the Yoshino District near Kamikitayama Village. Here the mountainous peaks form a natural border to Wakayama and Mie Prefectures.
Namego Valley is also known as “Rising Dragon.” Hisa’s imagery will help you understand why.

Peaking through the red Japanese maple leaves around him, Hisa captured the fiery orange and red autumn leaves running down the mountain ridge.
Surrounded by coniferous evergreens, the long, bright stripe of broad-leaved trees growing on the ridge line certainly does resemble a dragon.
Hopefully Hisa will visit again in spring when the ridge explodes in a streak of bright pink cherry blossoms.
We’ve featured (@Hisa0808)’s work before on grape Japan. Most recently we wrote about his shots of the “Symphonic Sculpture” at The Hakone Open-Air Museum. You can find our previous articles below.
