Donguri Closet opened earlier this year, as a new offshoot of Japan’s Studio Ghibli Merch wonderland, Donguri Kyowakoku. The new brand includes plenty wearable items inspired by the animation studio’s classic movies.
A few months ago, they announced a colourful range of brooches and jewellery in collaboration with a Japanese artisanal brand, which even included a reference to the bacon and eggs scene from Howl’s Moving Castle, made into some striking earrings.
In a win for Jiji fans, their latest lineup is Kiki’s Delivery Service heavy, but that doesn’t mean that no other films made it into the collection.
The sassy black cat can take over all your accessories, since there’s designs spanning earrings (for both pierced and non-pierced ears), necklaces, and a ring.
There’s also a range featuring characters on a colourful ‘stained glass’ style background, such as Jiji (again), Calcifer from Howl’s Moving Castle, and The Baron and Louise from Whisper of the Heart.
This simple but instantly recognisable Totoro motif has been made into various accessories as well, such as earrings, a bangle and hair pins.
The new range of jewellery and accessories can be found in branches of Donguri Kyowakoku across Japan (store list can be found online), or through the online shop.
