Japan's themed cafes, often called "concept cafes", seem to have an infinite well of themes to dip into. We've recently seen cafes dedicated to Kingdom Hearts, romanticizing the Taisho era, and even a hybrid of an owl cafe and MMA gym.
"Royal Guild and Concept Cafe Candleblum~bettei~" is a concept maid cafe that offers a very distinct look, shown by its staff, decor, and menu. The luxury tea salon's aesthetic floats between gothic, medieval, and royal, and the gaudily dressed staff customize their menu to each individual customer based off of a health survey/filing they complete when signing up for membership.
The cafe operates both a membership and non-membership area, but the membership (Royal Guild) allows customers to fill out a "medical record" (nothing personal, it's mostly goals such as beautification and better sleep), which the staff uses to recommend fancy drinks and food. (Among these are juice made from CBD gummies, Siphon royal tea, and a variety of detox-themed drinks).
Of course, you can simply explore the full menu of teas, coffee, juices, and fancy foaming bubble drinks that dissipate into mist.
Or you could enjoy a food menu that includes omelet rice, okonomiyaki, pancakes, truffle fries, and parfait while taking in the impressive decor.
Royal Guild operates from 19:00 to 23:00 (22:30 last order) with a 2,000 yen charge (1,000 yen for female customers) and requires membership. Candleblum operates from 19: 00-5: 00 (4:30 last order) with a 2,000 charge, and the aforementioned membership can be purchased for 1,000 yen.
They're located on the second and third floors of the Mitsuboshi Real Estate Building 3F, 4-2-25 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, with Royal Guild opening officially in January. More information can be found at their Twitter, Instagram, and official website.
