The forest of Sayama Hills in Tokorozawa, Japan is said to be the inspiration behind the setting of Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli classic, My Neighbor Totoro, but there are quite a few charming forest areas around the country that could easily act as a real-life stand in for the charming scenery found in the animated delight. Usadanu even says if you look closely enough, you can find Totoro in the set of pictures.
