If you've watched Shinkai Makoto's film Weathering with You, you'll recall the scene in which Hina cooks a meal for Hodaka in her apartment. The meal consists of egg fried rice and a salad, both of which are made with inexpensive ingredients. For the egg fried rice, she uses pea shoots that she had been growing near her kitchen window. Pea shoots are an economical choice since they are sold with the roots intact and can easily be grown and harvested multiple times.

But what happens when you don't harvest them and just let them grow?

You get something like this, which Twitter user Piyorin (@harepiyopiyo) posted to their account on February 28th:

Any visitor to their apartment would probably have the impression of a neat open kitchen with a lush verdant plant on the counter adding a beautiful accent to the home.

However, if they looked at it from the other side, they'd realize that the "plant" in question is nothing more than a giant package of pea shoots with have been luxuriating in a well-watered container.

With their propensity to grow at an astonishing rate, it's normal to see a package of pea shoots, once harvested, to grow back to their original height in under a week, but this particular conglomeration of shoots has surely been growing longer than that to reach this size.

You can't help but laugh at the impressive size the pea shoots had grown to.

The Tweet went viral, garnering over 50,000 likes at the time of writing, and eliciting comments such as:

Incidentally, Piyorin is considering planting these pea shoots in soil in the near future. The seedlings will grow into mature plants and produce pea pods full of delicious green peas!
