It’s full steam ahead for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, with 16 June 2021 being announced as the official DVD and Blu-ray release date.

Five months have now passed since Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train landed in cinemas on 16 October 2020. The movie broke several box office records, which included becoming the highest grossing animated film of 2020, and afterovertaking Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away (which held the record for 19 years), becoming Japan’s highest grossing film of all time.

There will be two editions up for grabs; a regular movie DVD and a special edition featuring some extras that top fans of the hit anime show will be pleased to see.

Special limited edition DVD and Blu-ray features

  • Storage box covered with artwork by the show’s character designer – Akira Matsushima
  • Limited edition DVD jacket with ufotable designs
  • Cast audio commentary by Natsuki Hanae, Akari Kito, Hiroshi Shimono, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Satoshi Hino
  • Additional CD with music score from the movie
  • Public Commemorative Stage Greeting and cast interview
  • Bonus disk with collection of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train PV and CM.
  • Commentary on film development from the production staff
  • Special booklet containing an edited version of the film’s limited edition ‘Thank you for visiting’ book, which was originally distributed to more than 750,000 people nationwide who watched the screening in cinemas.

Meet and Greet events

Additionally, meet and greet events with the film’s cast will be held in 5 cities across Japan as part of an early reservation campaign for the home release version of the movie. Participation tickets will be distributed by lottery to those who reserve the DVD and Blu-ray disks through the official website, ANIPLEX +, ufotable, Animate and/or Amazon.jp. The lottery can be applied to from 16 March – 23 April 2021.

More information is yet to be decided for the cast meet and greet events, but as of now the following dates, locations and cast have been announced:

May 30th (Sun)
