Last year, the characters of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba slayed their way into our hearts, and now several culinary tributes to the series have appeared to similarly slay our taste buds. We've already been treated to a plethora of various delicious KNY themed treats such as okonomiyaki, puddings and ramen snacks.
But this month, if you want a Demon Slayer character themed sweet, you only have to stroll over to the convenience store, thanks to this new lineup available at Lawson. These tarts have been made with autumn in mind, with a seasonally-appropriate caramel flavour mousse as the filling.
Sadly (or luckily if you want to collect them) the character designs aren’t edible but have been put onto a circular film which covers the top of the tart, and must be removed before consumption.
There’s six characters to choose from. Siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado each make up one tart, and Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibara, Giyu Tomioka and Shinobu Kocho also make an appearance. The character designs are all colour-coded to make them even more recognisable.
The tarts can be found in Lawson convenience stores in Japan for 249 yen in the chilled desserts corner, and you may have to be quick if you want to snag your favourite character!
And if you prefer traditional Japanese sweets to western ones, there’s two more Kimetsu no Yaiba inspired treats made entirely from nerikiri also available at Lawson at the same time, check out our article for more details!
