Beard Papa’s specialises in making Japan’s freshest choux a la creme (or シュークリーム in Japanese).
Every single cream puff is baked in store, and the puffs are not filled with cream until an order is placed. The company also specialises in the development of unique and creative flavours and ways to enjoy cream puffs (for a quick look at one of their quirkiest creations, check out their ‘drinkable’ cream puff creation that once graced Japan’s vending machines).
The brand’s most recent creations are inspired by classic sweets loved by all generations – Karinto (a traditional Japanese sweet made from deep fried brown sugar) and everybody’s favourite; Cookies & Cream.
The two new flavours are now available at all Beard Papa stores throughout Japan, but they won’t be there forever, with the ‘Karinto Choux’ disappearing from the menu from 1 April, and the ‘Cookies & Cream Choux’ from 1 May.

If you’re a big fan of Oreo, Hydrox, or any other cookies and cream combinations, this choux au craquelin crossover has the perfect combination of biscuit crunch and light airy creaminess.

Karinto Choux
This choux a la creme takes inspiration from the traditional Japanese snack food – Karinto. Keeping true to the taste of the classic sweet, the crunchy dough is reminiscent of the rich brown sugar flavour that Karinto is known for. Inside, the dough is filled with an enticing cream made from Hokkaido bean paste.
