Are the gathering hot, humid and rainy days making you crave for a nice big refreshing banana flavoured smoothie? Yeah me too.
Luckily, Shibuya109 has got our cravings covered with their brand new banana juice specialty store Banana x Banana which has opened up on the 8th floor of the iconic shopping department mall.
Of course being part of one of the most unique buildings in central Tokyo means this store is not without its quirks. Order from the counter and you will be given a bag with two bananas and an ice mallet. Now you’re probably wondering ‘what’s the mallet for?’, well...
As you can see, the store offers up more than just a banana smoothie, and actually gives customers the chance to destress by smashing their very own banana juice. This also allows the consumer to control how smooth they want their drink to be, and additionally saves on the store’s electricity and water bills, which of course helps the environment!
Not only do you get to control how smooth your drink is, but if you drink in store you can also customize which milk is used (a choice of soy or almond) or add additional sauces and toppings.
The Banana x Banana brand started with the opening of the flagship banana juice store in Shinjuku’s Nishi-Waseda back in August of 2020. The main concept behind the store is for customers to be able to ‘tap and drink whole banana juice to their liking’. The store has become a bit of hot topic on SNS as it provides a great way to relieve stress which is what we all need right now.
