Halloween themed Sumikko Gurashi traditional Japanese sweets from Sanrio are all treat no trick
Cute food is one way to celebrate your favourite kawaii characters, and Japan is absolutely the best place to take advantage of this trend. For example, Bandai is one company which has been releasing all kinds of collaboration treats, including instantly recognisable characters from Sanrio, and even Disney.
Bandai Candy have just released some treats featuring San-X’s adorable Sumikko Gurashi characters. Sumikko Gurashi means ‘life in the corner’ as these shy creatures like to live quiet and solitary lives.
This is already a cute concept, but as these Sumikko Gurashi cakes prove, these characters can get even sweeter in food form. The release includes two characters, Shirokuma and Tokage, each one with a refreshing taste for summer.
Shirokuma, who is a polar bear, is made with peach and vanilla flavour mousse.
And Tokage, a dinosaur pretending to be a lizard, is muscat and vanilla flavour mousse.
Each adorable character’s features were carefully drawn manually and Tokage has spikes made from chocolate.
Each cake costs 453 yen and they can be found in limited quantities at 7-Eleven in Kawasaki (Kanagawa prefecture) or on Bandai’s online shop (link to Shirokuma and link to Tokage's pages).
