The digital art group teamLab recently opened a new exhibit, Forest Fukuoka, in Fukuoka City. It first opened last year, in 2020, and starting from September 18th, 2021, they introduced more seasonal pieces to make the transition to the next season.

The stunning works and multitude of colors now paint the host building BOSS E-ZO FUKUOKA in the beautiful shades of autumn.

Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the digital displays, which include butterflies dancing while changing colors according to the season, animals drawn in autumn colors, granules of reds, yellows, oranges, and many other incredible exhibits.

There is a lot to discover, and you can start by exploring the Catching and Collecting Forest zone, where you can catch various animals and even make a picture book.

Then, you can further expand your imagination in the 3D exercise space, Athletics Forest, where you can immerse yourself in an interactive world and use your body and rational thinking to understand the world surrounding you.

All the artworks share the theme of "creatures living in symbiosis with flowers in the valley stirring with life" ( うごめく谷の、花と共に生きる生き物たち A Whole Year per Year ugomeku tani no hana to tomo ni ikiru ikimono tachi), which also brings us to why the atmosphere changes seasonally.

The works refer to an eternal cycle, a shared ecosystem, reminding us that all creatures great and small are brought into the world, live their lives and eventually pass away.

Visitors will get to discover the "Flutter of Butterflies, Ephemeral Life - A Whole Year per Year," a space surrounded by darkness - until someone steps inside. When someone stands in the room, butterflies come alive from under their feet. However, they pass away if someone touches them.

From September to November, the room gets colored in the autumn shades, and every display is full of uniqueness.

Besides the "Flutter of Butterflies," you can also have fun in the "Soft Terrain and Granular Topography - A Whole Year per Year" 3D area, a zone full of grains of color that also change depending on the various climatalogical or seasonal factors.
