Though the cooler seasons are fast upon us, the change in weather doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy an ice cream or two.
Kojimaya Dairy Confectionery Co. is a dairy manufacturing company that aims to bring out the ‘umami’ of domestic Japanese vegetables and fruits.
Following their spring and summer lineup, Kojimaya is unveiling their autumn/winter editions which will be available at supermarkets and convenience stores throughout the Kanto region from 1 October 2021.
The first in the series focuses on an autumn favourite; the rich deep flavour of Ibaraki Beniharu’s roasted sweet potato. In Japan, no other sweet potato comes close to beating the sugar content of Ibaraki Beniharu roasted sweet potato, which of course means that this ice cream is perfect for anyone with a particularly strong sweet tooth.
That high sugar content is what makes the sweet potato sauce of this ice cream the stuff of dreams, and paired along with salt-butter flavoured ice cream, the sweetness is only multiplied tenfold!

The second half of the series honours some winter winners; the sour flavour of Iyokan oranges from Ehime Prefecture and the sweet taste of Kawachi Bankan come together in a harmonious blend of citrus.
Together with the bitter taste of French chocolate ice cream, the sauce made from these two Japanese citrus fruits resemble the popular confectionary – Orangette.
