When an accomplished illustrator redraws a childhood gag manga with his current skills
If you watch anime, chances are you've seen a flying whale or two.
For example, Negima! Magister Negi Magi had its Air Whales, Flying Witch has ancient flying whales, there's the evil White Whale in Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World and recently, there was Leviathan in I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level. Flying whales and space whales have also appeared in science fiction, both in print and on screen.
But when it comes to reality, most people don't expect to come across one of these behemoths in the sky...
But that's precisely what Twitter user 夜神ファントム@異世界転生ギルド(いてんぎ) Yagami Phantom - Isekai Tensei Guild-Itengi- (@nightwavechan) happened to see while taking a walk...
What on earth is going on here?
They may look like real whales from afar, but they're really kites!
According to the contributor, the video was taken at Kaike Hot Spring in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture.
These whale kites were flying as part of a special limited-time event.
People who saw the video commented that it was "soothing" and "realistic and amazing," and it has received more than 33,800 likes at the time of writing.
