Sanrio plus desserts makes for the perfect combination. Since Sanrio characters are known worldwide for their cuteness, they can bring an extra charm to a sweet and colourful dessert.

There’s a pudding specialist store in Japan called Pastel that knows exactly how to take advantage of this fact to create some super adorable treats. During February they turned their menu into a Cinnamoroll extravaganza, and next month it’s the turn of Pompompurin.

As a pudding-dog character, he’s the perfect candidate for dessert inspiration, and this will be the third time that Pastel have created a Pompompurin collaboration menu.

In Japan, a pudding (or ‘purin’ in Japanese pronunciation) is a specific type of cold custard dessert, often served with caramel sauce. The Pompompurin Mini Pudding takes this classic dessert as a base with a whipped cream topping decorated with cocoa powder Pompompurins. The top designs shown in the image will be available until 16th April, then the bottom two will be on the menu until the end of the month.

The Pompompurin Brownie Pudding adds some extra treats into the mix, with sponge cake, caramel sauce, marshmallow and brownie pieces. It’s decorated with a Pompompurin on top, who looks ready to dig in with his magic spoon.

There’s even a fruity option in the form of a berry pudding, starring Pompompurin’s friend Macaron. It’s made from a strawberry pudding base, with strawberry and sponge cake, marshmallows and strawberry sauce.

Pudding a la mode is a classic and colourful way to serve pudding in Japan with cream and various fruits. For Pastel’s Pompompurin version, this includes strawberry, kiwi, and peach and it is served in a super cute cup featuring the character himself.

It’s not just puddings on offer either, Pastel are even serving up a chiffon cake, topped with an adorable Pompompurin. The cake is, of course, still pudding flavoured, with pudding cream and caramel sauce.

Lastly, there’s a charming pudding tart, big enough to share between your friends, which combines soft and creamy pudding with a flaky and crisp pie crust.

If you order off the Pompompurin collaboration menu, you can even get an adorable paper bag to take your treats home in.

These items will appear on Pastel Pudding’s menu from 1st to 30th April 2022. Check out their website for a list of branches around Japan.
