Maggyo Satou: A passion for Pokémon in clay
Maggyo Satou さとうマッギョ (@maggyosatou) is a Japanese clay artist who makes statues with a Pokémon theme out of lightweight clay. According to his Twitter profile, he prefers to use pre-colored clay to achieve his hues rather than rely on paints and patinas over uncolored clay. He strives to create works that are cute and cool, while also injecting a healthy dose of humor.
As you might expect for someone devoted exclusively to Pokémon, the artist enjoys playing all Pokémon games, and likes to stay up to date with the latest versions. Therefore, Satou's most recent creations reflect Pokémon Legends: Arceus and even Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, the starters from the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
Hisuian Typhlosion
Due to a certain meme, even those who haven't played Pokémon Legends: Arceus may have heard of the Hisuian Typhlosion, a combined Ghost/Fire type who looks different from the plain Fire type discovered outside of Hisui Region.
Maggyo Satou has recreated the powerful yet pacifistic Pokémon, capturing all of its features, body language, color tones, and of course, its meme-worthy laid-back expression.
