Japan’s favorite curry house is now offering its overseas-exclusive curry–meet Mac ‘n’ Cheese curry!
With "Candy Racer," her first full album in 3 years, released in October, an appearance at Coachella and a solo concert in California coming up in April, as well as an ongoing 30-show nationwide tour in Japan, queen of kawaii Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is celebrating the 10th anniversary of her major label debut in style.
As we introduced in January, she's also collaborating with hard hit local businesses to create merchandise for her tour, in an effort called the “LOCAL POWER JAPAN Project.”
In Ishikawa Prefecture, where the tour will be held on March 26th, Kyary is collaborating with the popular curry chain "Go Go Curry" (stylized as "Go! Go! CURRY!"). Although it now has stores throughout Japan and abroad, the company originated in the prefectural capital of Kanazawa, where it popularized what would later become known as Kanazawa Curry. This style of curry has a layer of thick and rich roux, on top of which is placed a breaded pork or chicken cutlet, which is then topped with a special sauce, served with shredded cabbage on a stainless steel plate, and eaten with a fork or a spork.

Go Go Kyary curry
The logo for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's collaboration combines the key visual for the "10th ANNIVERSARY JAPAN TOUR 2022 CANDY WAVE" featuring Kyary in an oversized red ribbon and Go Go Curry's gorilla mascot to create a very impactful design.
Those who can read katakana may also have realized that the curry chain's name in the collaboration has changed from ゴーゴーカレー (Go Go Curry) to ゴーゴーキャリー Go Go Kyary, with the dakuten ('voicing marks' resembling quotes) replaced by ribbons.
As for the content of the package, for this collaboration, the LOCAL POWER JAPAN project has chosen Go Go Curry's popular "Kanazawa Premium Aged Beef Curry" retort pouches.
This collaboration product costs 600 JPY and is available for pre-order at the "LOCAL POWER JAPAN project" online store for a limited time until April 5th, 2022, and will also be sold in limited quantities at the Kanazawa City Cultural Hall, the venue of the Ishikawa concert, from March 26th at 15:00 (JST).
T-Shirt
A collaboration logo T-shirt is also available for 3,300 JPY. In addition to the collaboration logo, the back of the neck features the Kyary 10th anniversary logo and the project logo, making it a commemorative item. It will be available at the LOCAL POWER JAPAN project online store for two weeks only beginning today, March 23rd, 2022.
