The summer is heating up in Japan, and if there’s one treat that green tea fans can’t do without during this season, it’s a matcha frappe. And matcha ice cream. And matcha shaved ice. And matcha parfaits…
Anyway, the point is, a good matcha frappe is a must for summer, and it’s even better when it can be easily picked up at the convenience store for an affordable price. So green tea enthusiasts across the country can rejoice, because Family Mart have teamed up with a tea purveyors with 450 years of history called Kanbayashi Shunsho, to release a luxurious matcha frappe bursting with Uji matcha.
According to a survey, matcha came out on top as the flavour that Family Mart customers most wanted, so the convenience store took their customer’s feedback seriously and came up with the ‘Uji Matcha Frappe Presented by Kanbayashi Shunsho Honten’.
It contains a blend of matcha from high quality leaves carefully selected by Kanbayashi Shunsho, hailing from both Kyoto and Mie prefecture. The gentle milk taste smooths out the matcha’s characteristic bitterness, and the ice is finely blended to create this summery treat.
This beverage is now on sale at branches of Family Mart all over Japan, costing 320 yen.
