Thanks to the popularity of the Harry Potter series in Japan, fans can enjoy all kinds of awesome attractions inspired by the magical franchise. There’s the Harry Potter area of Universal Studios in Osaka, and a Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour in Tokyo.

Fans have also enjoyed various pop-up cafes around the country to celebrate the release of new films or anniversaries, but until now they have all only been open for limited times.

But that’s about to change with a Harry Potter Cafe opening this month in Tokyo. While it will initially be in a pre-open stage, it’s set for a grand opening on 8th July this year to become a fully-fledged establishment.

But even in the pre-open phase, the menu is full to the brim with enchanting eats and bewitching beverages.

The main theme of the menu is the four Hogwarts Houses, and you can choose your dishes based on your favourite one. There’s cheese toasties that follow this theme.

And some piping hot stews as well.

There’s also awesome desserts featuring recognisable motifs such as the Hedwig cake.

And drinks based on spells, such as the ‘Expecto Patronum’ non-alcoholic cocktail, that has a bubble on top similar to the protective barrier formed by the spell in the story.

If you’re a mage on the go, there’s a spellbinding takeout menu, including Hogwarts House scones.

And fruity, colour-coded drinks.

Of course, there will also be a section of the cafe where you can buy Wizarding World merchandise.

The Harry Potter Cafe’s pre-open will begin from 16th June and continue until 7th July 2022, and it will be located on the first floor of Akasaka Biz Tower in Tokyo. Take a look at the official website for more information and to reserve a table!
