Yaki-imo, or basked sweet potatoes, are one of Japan's favorite snacks during the fall and winter. Sometimes, they're sold from the back of delivery trucks that patrol neighborhoods and play a siren-like song to attract hungry customers. While most are content to munch on them as is, a new simple and decadent recipe that combines them and s'mores has foodies on Twitter thinking they've been doing both wrong the whole time.

Maruetsu, a Japanese supermarket, often shares delicious twists on dishes (such as their viral potato carbonara) has shared a take on baked sweet potatoes and the campfire favorite treat, s'mores, that's being hailed as a must-try fall treat this season.

Here's all you need to prepare it, as well as the simple and delicious recipe!

Ingredients:

1 baked sweet potato

One half of a chocolate bar (give or take, depending on how chocolatey you want these)

Marshmallows to fill up the potato (there's 15 in this picture, but the idea is to cover as much space as possible)

Cut a slit in the baked potato, spread it open, and fill it with your chocolate. Then microwave or toaster oven it as is for 1-2 minutes to get the chocolate to melt.

When the chocolate has melted, place your heap of marshmallows on top and heat again in the toaster until the marshmallows are cooked through.

Try to keep your marshmallows packed in tight, as s'mores veterans will tell you they can puff up an make a mess in your toaster oven or microwave. Once they get to the nice golden brown color you see below, you're good!

The result? The soft and sticky sweet potato adds an extra punch of flavor and a pleasant changeup in texture from the usual graham crackers, and the shape of carved potato almost makes it feel like the gooey marshmallow and chocolate have sunk into it and become one. It's like eating a sweet delicious boat made of s'mores!

The recipe has become a big hit with many who've tried it out swearing by it, and others drooling in anticipation of it by just looking at the pictures. Try it out and make it a treat for Halloween night!
