You'll find no shortage of animal cafes in Japan. Cafes where you can leisurely enjoy a cup of coffee, while also vying for the attention of cats, rabbits, and even owls. And now if you can brave the long line of waiting customers, you can find yourself having a cup of coffee with a new, although slightly more prickly animal companion at Tokyo's new hedgehog cafe--Harry!

The name of the cafe is a play on the Japanese word for hedgehog (ハリネズミ, hari-nezumi), and outside of following in Japan's modern tradition of cafes with free-roaming cute animals, Harry actually has a bit of a noble cause behind it's adorable aesthetic. Cafe employee Mizuki Murata, who also happens to work in a rabbit cafe in the same building, told Reuters that "We wanted to show people the charm of hedgehogs, which give the impression of being hard to handle. We wanted to get rid of that image by letting people touch them," and that "the cutest thing about hedgehogs is getting them to finally open up and show you their face."

So how can you get past the prickly exteriors of these cute critters and make friends? Located just a one minute walk from Roppongi station, and caries between 20-30 hedgehogs, which according to the website, are separated into categories of “Salt n pepper”, “Pied”, “Cinnamon”, “Albino.” Each session is set at 30 minutes, in which you can cuddle and pet the hedgehog staff to your heart's content for 1000 yen ($9.19 USD) on weekdays or 1300 yen ($11.94 USD) on weekends. Should you take a permanent liking to a particular hedgehog, don't get your needles in a bunch, as Harry also sells hedgehogs for you to take home!

As a cafe, Harry has a self-service selection of beverages you can choose from if you need a break from cuteness overloads. While there is no food, you are allowed to bring in snacks and drinks as long as it's not alcoholic.
