Kayako has been pretty busy lately. After all, she's gearing up for the June theatrical release of Sadako vs. Kayako (貞子 vs. 伽椰子), a movie that pits the sinister ghosts from the Ju-on and Ring series against each other. While that terrifying crossover is sure to have the evil spirit exhausted from so many scares, it appears that she has found just enough spare time to run an Instagram account, one that shows off the daily ghost-family lives of Kayako and her son Toshio.
"Today the laundry is drying well."
The account is a bit of a promotional gag for the upcoming film that features the two Japanese horror titans duking it out, but features some comedic insight into what Kayako and Toshio get up to on their days off from terrifying and fatally cursing people. Their day-to-day routine seems to resemble that of any normal mother and son duo in Japan, although with some hilarious posing and gaping mouths--what with them being ghosts and all. Also, thanks to that gaping mouth, Kayako updates her Instagram photos speaking not in words, but just her creepy "ahhhhhhhhh" death rattle, providing Japanese translations of it on the side. If you need a refresher, it's this sound:
Now that you have that keeping you awake, let's check out their daily routine.
"He's habitually late for school!"
"Is he growing?"
"Finally a clear day for hanami (sakura viewing)."
"Her well....nope! A laundry machine."
"He hates carrots."
"An early Sunday afternoon."
"We can't stop eating roasted mochi."
"He gave me chocolate." (for the Japanese holiday, White Day)
"Sharing the load."
"Good morning."
"Checking out the location of the grounds of the Spirit World Summit."
It's not exactly the most active account on Instagram, but with the movie set to be released in just a few months, we imagine activity to ramp up, so for Japanese horror fans with a sense of humor, it's a perfect account to follow! And hey, in the meantime you prepare for the movie with creepy posts like this...
