This late summer, though, sweet potato lovers will be rejoicing to their newly announced ice cream flavor — purple sweet potato!

Available for a limited time from August 30th, 2016, the purple sweet potato ice cream will feature purple ice cream of refined sweetness, with rich purple sweet potato sauce drizzled on top. The flavor was actually sold in 2012 and 2013, but is making a comeback this year due to its previous popularity.

The Japanese sure love their sweet potatoes — they’re often consumed as snacks, and purple sweet potatoes in particular are already widely adored as a delicious ice cream flavor.
