A live action movie from the popular Pokemon was sealed for film rights with the Japan-based The Pokemon Co. Pokemon was first created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995, and is now a large volume of franchise of anime series, games, trading cards, TV shows, comic books and animated movies. The first Pokemon movie — Mewtwo Strikes Back, was released in 1998, and other 19 films followed up after its release.

After a long run, the augmented reality game Pokemon Go has made a big hit around the U.S. The success not only brings back Pokemon fans, but also many other new opportunity for Pokemon to grow. The Legendary Entertianment grabbed this rare opportunity, and finally closed a deal for the film rights with the Japanese property.
The new live-action movie is based on Detective Pikachu, a new character in the Pokemon universe. It was previously announced to be in the new Nintendo game with a freshly new storyline, plus a first time ever short 3D animation Pokemon movie clip was even produced.

Further details of the Pokemon live action are being kept under wraps, but the film will start its production in 2017 in a very fast pace. Besides the U.S, the Pokemon fans from Japan also can’t wait, and say they hope a possible sequel could happen.
