The fried octopus balls topped with globs of mayonnaise and sweet sauce, then sprinkled with green onion and dried bonito flakes is about as representative an image of Japan's top foodie town as you can ask for. Now one of Osaka's biggest landmarks is selling the classic food with a twist that embraces Japan's recent rash of black burgers.
Debuting on October first, a mysterious cart selling special black Takoyaki appeared on the grounds of the historic Osaka Castle.

The location alone is enough to target foreign travelers, but the use of ninja imagery is an added boost. To accomplish this the food truck claims they are using a 400 year old hidden ninja technique, but in actuality they are using black squid ink to darken the local treat. The Ninja Takoyaki sellin sets of 6 pieces for 600yen 8 pieces for 800 yen, and are located right in front of the castle grounds.
