Earlier this year, when Japan's Finance Ministry announced new official designs for the 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000-yen bills, illustrator and manga artist created an alternative mame shiba inu 500 yen banknote so adorable it got turned into official merchandise.
Feline fans don't have to feel left out any longer, however, as fellow illustrator @bokoyai has proposed a 200 yen banknote made by the fictional "Japan Cat Bank" that will have cat lovers squealing with glee.
Much like the mame shiba inu design, the illustration has spawned a lineup of goods in collaboration with entertainment product company Space Factory, which includes:
Notepads.
Ticket cases.
Key holders.
Commuter pass cases.
Coin purses.
Face towels.
Wallets.
Smartphone cases.
The kitten yen banknote lineup is currently available from Space Factory's online shop, and items are gradually becoming available on Amazon as well.
