Ochoko are the small cylindrical cups used to traditionally enjoy sake in Japan. While they can come in many beautiful designs, it's not often that they are thought of as cute. Talented Japanese potter and ceramic artist Etsu (@etsu_art) may be changing that, however, with their newly designed watermelon ochoko!

The adorable summertime fruit themed sake cups resemble a cut-open watermelon, and even feature a pink and pulpy inside. While they are intended as a means of enjoying sake (or any beverage really), they could just as well be used as a cute interior decoration piece.

When placed together, you can even recreate a whole watermelon.

Etsu even provided a look into the creation process.

Of course, this is just one of Etsu's many clever pottery designs. In the past, the ceramic artist crafted miniature daikon radish-shaped chopstick placeholders.

Etsu sells a number of their expertly crafted and fascinating goods on Japanese retail sites Creema and Minne. While they intend to do the same for the watermelon ochoko, it will take some time before they are made available for mass order.
