Japanese Hot Spring Resort Now Offers Protein Shake Baths And Meat-Heavy Menu
Set in Japan's Taisho Era (1912-1926), mega popular anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (at the time of writing, its first feature film sits only only 520 million yen away from surpassing Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away for the all time Japanese box office spot) seems to have a natural affinity for merchandise using items associated with Japan's past, such as traditional hair ornaments.
The latest in Demon Slayer and Japanese goods fusion comes via way of a collaboration with Bandai and an incense maker that has been at it since 1575: incense sticks with fragrances inspired by Demon Slayer characters.
Nippon Kodo is the largest incense maker in Japan that is renowned for preserving its traditional crafting technique for well over 400 years (they trace their history to an artisan known as Koju, who made incense for the Emperor of Japan), trusting their skilled craftsmen to preserve preparation techniques and quality material selection through generations.
They're now turning their talents to a lineup of incense sticks designed to reflect the "image" of four popular Demon Slayer characters. As a bonus, each fragrance comes with a special stand that features an emblem representative of the character themselves, and packaging based on their haori.
Tanjiro Kamado: Charcoal
Nezuko Tanjiro: Bamboo
Kyojuro Rengoku: Flame
Shinobu Kocho: Wisteria flowers
Each set comes with 60 incense sticks and an character emblem stand (note the black plate in the images does not). They are available for 4,400 yen from Premium Bandai's online shop (international order inquires can be made here). They can also be purchased in Japan at Nippon Kodo from their Ninzenzaka store in Kyoto, and twelve others listed here.
