The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) has released "Tokyo Sustainability Action," an English translation of a summary document outlining its efforts to realize the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015. Tokyo's "Future Tokyo: Tokyo’s Long-Term Strategy," drafted in March 2021, forms the basis for this document, now available for the first time in English.
Tokyo Sustainability Action
This document was prepared as part of the Voluntary Local Review (VLR), an international initiative in which local governments voluntarily review the status of their SDG efforts and submit the results to the United Nations for publication.
Today, July 13th, 2021, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike's video message regarding the Tokyo Sustainabilty Action was aired at the 4th Local Government Forum which was held as a special event of the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. The Governor's video message will shortly be available on the Policy Planning Bureau's website.
