Spirited Away is one of Studio Ghibli’s most beloved films, and this year the animation studio is celebrating the movie’s 20th anniversary. This has led to some exciting merchandise releases based on the motifs and characters, such as an actual ‘hopping lantern’ and traditional Japanese crafts starring No-Face.
The Studio Ghibli merchandise store Donguri Kyowakoku have another awesome surprise in store to mark the occasion, a seal based on Zeniba’s contract seal that Haku steals in the movie.
This recreation, which has been named ‘The Witch’s Contract Seal’, looks impressively close to the actual item from the animation. It’s 8.7 cm tall and 2.3 cm wide, and is made from a semi-precious gemstone called carnelian. It is believed that this stone can impart courage and chase away fear, so it’s the perfect symbol to represent this film’s theme.
The seal can even be customised with up to four characters of your choice engraved on the bottom
It comes in a sleek wooden box emblazoned with the name of the film in Japanese, ‘Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi’.
So if you would like to get a hold of your very own witchy contract seal, this enchanting item is currently available for preorder on Donguri Kyowakoku’s online store costing 25,300 yen, and is set to be shipped out around December this year.
