Affectionately called Ten-ichi for short, Tenkaippin is one of Japan's most popular ramen chains, and their signature particularly rich and thick "kotteri" soup made from chicken stock and a dozen vegetables has become emblematic of "Kyoto-style ramen", giving the chain a dedicated fan base.
Fans of Tenkaippin now have a new way to show their love the noodle shop, as Tenkaippin will be celebrating its 50th anniversary by collaborating with French sports equipment maker Le Coq Sportif to release Tenkaippin ramen-themed sneakers.
The releases of the collaboration model (the LCS R800 Z1 TI) also coincides with the 30th anniversary of Le Coq Sportif's LCS R" sneaker series. The fusion of food and fashion draws a connection between Le Coq Sportif's rooster trademark logo and Tenkaippin's kotteri chicken ramen broth.
The sneakers feature Tenkaippin's logo, as well as laces and a color scheme inspired the the noodles, green onions, and soup found in the the chain's classic ramen.
The collaboration shoes will be able to order online beginning November 10th.
