Iwaiseika Co., Ltd. 株式会社岩井製菓 sells candy and other sweets in the famous green tea-producing city of Uji, Kyoto Prefecture.
The company's YouTube channel, through which it promotes its products and stores and shows its candy-making process, is very popular with over 100,000 subscribers. Many of the videos have millions of views.
For example, this video, showing how their "Nishikidama" 錦玉 candy is made, has been viewed over 3 million times. The Nishikidama is very pretty. Each little candy is shaped and patterned like a decorative temari ball, subtly and beautifully decorated in thin stripes of pastel colors.
The craftsmanship that goes into making it is apparent when you watch this video.
Once you pop it into your mouth, you can no longer appreciate its color or its shape. However, once you realize how carefully they're made in a time-consuming process like this, it may change the way you feel when you eat it.
They also have videos showing off candies made with specialty ingredients and shapes inspired by the 47 prefectures of Japan. For example, here is the one for Kyoto Prefecture, which naturally features green tea:
You can check out the videos for the other prefectures on their channel!
