Donguri Kyowakoku, Japan’s official Studio Ghibli retailer, has a ridiculous amount of merchandise available inspired by the various popular characters and motifs from the animations. Thanks to this, they even have items inspired by many different side characters, who don’t usually get included in merchandise collections.
One example of this is the just released flower pot holder, which is based on Turnip Head, the scarecrow who follows Sophie around in Howl’s Moving Castle after she rescues him. Although he’s not a main character, his look is memorable to any Ghibli fan, and will add plenty of charm to any room.
This very detailed rendition of his head has all his recognisable accessories, such as his hat and pipe. As a plant pot holder, the flower or plant will grow charmingly out of his hat, and it can be used outside in a garden or on a balcony, or it can decorate an interior.
Of course, you can fill his hat with anything you want if you’re not particularly green-fingered. Sweets or small snacks could be one option.
This charming item can be found in branches of Donguri Kyowakoku in Japan, or ordered from their online shop costing 26,400 yen.
