Dom Dom Hamburger is Japan's first fast food restaurant chain. In addition to standard burger and cheeseburger varieties, it's famous for including some rather unconventional burgers on its menu. Just like their deep-fried whole crab burger which we reviewed in 2020, these bold burgers are often characterized by featuring fillings that won't fit within the confines of the buns.
For their latest bun-bursting burger, Dom Dom was inspired by a popular Taiwanese street food called 大雞排 dà jī pái, or Ji Pai for short, huge, flat pieces of fried chicken, such as the one seen below:
Beginning on July 23rd, 2022 and only available for a limited time, their Ji Pai burger is sure to satisfy fried chicken lovers with a burger measuring over a half-foot wide and weighing over 7 ounces.
The interesting thing about this new product is that the Ji Pai chicken can also be purchased separately.
The ジーパイバーガー Ji Pai burger will set you back 1,030 JPY including tax for a combo meal, 650 JPY a-la-carte and 550 JPY for the Ji Pai fried chicken all by itself.
This impactful burger which is "bigger than your face" has been a hot topic of conversation online since its release, eliciting comments such as:
With their Ji Pai Burger, Dom Dom Hamburger has created a new "legend," showing once again that they know how to create new products that exceed its fans' expectations. If you have a Dom Dom Burger near you, why not give it a try?
