Whether it be cheesy fries or cheese-loaded potato skins, there's something about the gooey and creamy combination of cheese and some form of crispy potatoes that makes for a top-tier appetizer. If you've gotten tired of ordering the same old variation or are simply craving a twist for your own home cooking, a recipe for some cheesy potatoes dubbed a "divine revelation" may have you headed to the kitchen immediately.
Japanese supermarket Maruetsu (@maruetsu1945) regularly provides simple and tasty recipes on their Twitter account, and one of their most recent ones has gotten a lot of attention and has people drooling. They're calling it "Potato Carbonara", and felt the dish so addictive they proclaimed their idea to come up with it a divine revelation. While it may seem like an exaggeration, one look at it will show you why it has people's mouths watering.

So what do you need to whip up a batch of this cheesy potato and pasta carbonara hybrid that may have come from above? Fortunately Maruetsu provided a recipe on how to prepare the easy and delicious dish. Let's get started!
Ingredients (Serves 2-3 people, or a very hungry person)
3 potatoes (about 300g)
6 slices of prosciutto ham
3 tablespoons Parmesan cheese
Half a teaspoon of coarsely ground black pepper
1 pinch of salt
1 egg

First, wash the potatoes well and cut them in half, skin and all.

Put the potatoes in a microwavable bowl, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of water, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave in a microwave (600w recommended) for 6 minutes.

Crack an egg into a microwavable cup, add enough water to cover the egg, and pierce it with something like chopsticks or a toothpick.
Cook the egg in the microwave for 40 to 50 seconds without wrapping. At least, that's Maruetsu's suggestion for consistency, you really just need to soft boil the egg!

Place the cooked potatoes on a plate, top with the ham and soft-boiled egg, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, black pepper, and salt.
