Tokyo Banana is often touted as the number one selling sweets souvenir from Tokyo. Those visiting from out of town often go out of their way to grab a box of the popular banana-cream filled sponge cake snacks, especially when there's premium Kit Kat and even Pokémon versions available.

While Tokyo Banana's flagship cakes definitely steal the spotlight, they are actually known for another food item that was so wildly popular when it was first released that it's been called legendary--curry bread! In 2002, Tokyo Banana released their famous "Tokyo Banana Legendary Curry Bread", which sold 2,000 servings a day in Tokyo. Now, after 20 years, Tokyo Banana has announced they will be bringing back the Legendary Curry bread with a new and improved recipe, and releasing it alongside a sweet offering of An-doughnuts.

The resurrection of the hot-selling curry bread coincides with the opening of Tokyo Banana's flagship store, Tokyo Banana's, just outside the Yaesu underground central exit ticket gate of JR Tokyo Station on December 8th.

Tokyo Banana consulted with expert chefs to give the Legendary Curry Bread an even bolder flavor, featuring curry made from ground pork and beef simmered with sautéed onions and fresh cream and a melted banana puree for a luxurious curry treat.

For those with more of a sweet tooth, Tokyo Banana will also be releasing a new Cream An-doughnut. An-doughnuts are Japanese doughnuts typically stuffed with red bean or cream. These ones mix red bean paste from Hokkaido that are then topped with Tokyo Banana's banana custard cream.

Both will be available for individual purchase, but also available in sets of 5.
