With his “Pocky Blade,” Japanese artist is the Sharpest Sweet Tooth in the East

In 1999, Japanese food manufacturer Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd., known for their stick-shaped snacks Pocky and Pretz, chose the date November 11th to promote their products since it can be written with four 1s, which look like four sticks lined up in a row. Ever since then, November 11th is known as "Pocky Day" and "Pretz Day" in Japan and many people post photos and videos featuring the snacks to mark the occasion.

  • "How many lives do you have to live to come up with this idea?"
  • "This is the most astonishing work I have ever seen!"
  • "The quality is high! The way he takes out the blade is so cool."

Such were the comments of praise and amazement elicited by a Pocky-themed video posted on November 11th, 2022, by clay artist ネンドザイカー Nendozaiker on his YouTube subchannel ネンドザイカーの息抜き (Nendozaiker's Respite).

Nendozaiker came up with the brilliant idea of making a miniature "katana sword" letter opener that looks identical to a Pocky stick. The cookie part of the Pocky is the hilt and the chocolate part is the sheath. Watch the video until the end and see how he made it!

It's practically indistinguishable from the real thing...

There's only one Pocky Blade, for now, so Nendozaiker is effectively the sharpest Pocky-loving sweet tooth in the East. But who knows? if Ezaki Glico is watching, maybe one day the Pocky Blade letter-opener will become a commercial product!
