Have you ever seen any Instagram photos that appear as if they are taken through a glass ball?
It’s taken with a special lens called Soratama lens.
This lens was developed by experimental photographer Zenji Uehara. Apparently, the first version was made by placing an acrylic ball at the end of a potato chips container.
Because it’s not so hard to make one yourself, many photographers have their own original version of this type of lens.
Potato chips container seems to be the most popular item to make this lens with. Having said that, the key component is the glass ball. As you can see in the next photo, if it’s not transparent enough, then your photos won’t look that good.
Viewing the world through this lens might give you a new perspectives to your everyday life.
If you can’t be bothered making one yourself, you can always purchase it.
