Edward Scissorhands has always had an aesthetic appeal, but perhaps the titular character of the Tim Burton classic will have even more fans now that he has been transformed into a dark and beautiful female version as the latest release in a line of gender-swapped horror film characters.

Japanese artists and designers have a knack for pulling off attractive gender-swaps of famous pop culture characters and icons, so it should come as no surprise that Japanese model and figure maker Kotobukiya has released a figure series called Horror Bishojo, or Horror Beautiful Girls, that takes iconic horror film characters and turns them into beautiful women. This almost feminine twist on Edward Scissorhands is not the first entry in the series, however, as you may remember that the same line featured slashers Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger into sexy babes as well.

This beautiful female version of Edward Scissorhands was based on an illustration by Japanese artist and designer, Shunya Yamashita, who also worked on a Marvel and DC version of a similar series for Kotobukiya. The dark fantasy world of the film gives the figure a somber and mysterious Gothic Lolita look with lace-up boots, a choker, and a tattered skirt that Edward cut him-er, herself. At the base of the figure is a patch of melting ice.

The figure may be considered a bit of departure from the Freddy and Jason figures, who perhaps were super sexualized as busty babes to mesh with their over-the-top slasher style (ok, the real reason is "boobs and money"), and instead has a quiet grace to it, reflecting the awkwardness of the character in the film.
The Freddy and Jason figures showed uh...a little more skin.

The female Edward Scissorhands figure will is set for an October release, but can pre-ordered at Amazon, as well at the Kotobukiya online shop for 9000 yen ($82.70 USD). She's not the Edward Scissorhands you may have grown up with, but this stylish figure (as well as Freddy and Jason) makes for a sweet collection piece for horror enthusiasts.
Here's a promotional video showing off the figure.
