Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa is welcoming the cherry blossom season this year by bringing sakura to the depths of the sea.
The venue, which has been in a partnership with the creative company NAKED Inc. since 2015, is offering another way of doing the hanami or watching the cherry blossoms in spring.
Hanami is a Japanese tradition dating back to a few hundred years and now celebrated well beyond the ethnic and geographic boundaries of the Japanese archipelago. The season has become a major moment for tourism in Japan, even gaining the appellation, “sakuranomics,” as tourists swoop upon Japan to enjoy the stunning flowers in bloom.
To cater to this phenomenon as well as the trend of self-expression on SNS, Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa is creating a brand new way of marketing for the cherry blossom season.
At the entrance to the park you will see a penguin performance — and a sakura project mapping space.
