If you're already tired of the cold winter weather and looking forward to the arrival of Spring, you're not alone. One way to get an early taste of Spring is to enjoy sakura-flavored foods. Or how about a cup of cherry blossom sencha tea?

Senchadō Tokyo 煎茶堂, a single-origin sencha specialty store, will be selling a limited-edition tea, Sakura no Sencha さくらの煎茶, at the Senchadō Tokyo Ginza store and online store from February 1 (Mon) to March 31 (Wed), 2021.

さくらの煎茶 Sakura no Sencha is made by adding real cherry blossom leaves to the tea leaves during the rubbing process, which gives it an aroma reminiscent of sakura mochi, a mochi rice cake wrapped in a cherry blossom leaf and infused with its aroma.

As soon as you add hot water, the aroma rises to the surface, evoking a gentle breeze perfumed by cherry blossoms on a sunny Spring afternoon. This sakura fragrance derived from natural ingredients is very popular, and not only in Japan. Even those who don't usually drink flavored teas can enjoy it.

With its pink foil stamping and the matte texture of the packaging, it has a stylish look which makes it also makes a great gift for Valentine's Day or even White Day (if you celebrate that)

Senchadō Tokyo also offers recipe ideas online! You can enjoy a variety of recipes at home, such as "Sakura Sencha Soda" and "Sakura Milk Tea."

For more information and to place your order (from February 1st), check out their website here. (The "Sold Out" indication will disappear on Feb. 1 when sales begin) or visit their shop in Ginza.

A 30 g tin of Sakura no Sencha tea costs 1,620 JPY (incl. tax) and will be available between February 1st and March 31st, 2021, while supplies last.
