Nestle Japan caused a stir when they announced that the first ever 'ruby chocolate' product on sale to the public would be in Kit Kat form, and only available in Japan. Nestle owned exclusive rights to the 'new type of chocolate' for the initial six months, and the bar was only sold in Kit Kat Chocolatory stores, and for a limited time only in early 2018.
But if you missed it before, prepare your taste buds for a whole new chocolate experience. It's one year later and the elusive ‘fourth chocolate’ is making its way to convenience stores and supermarkets all over Japan.

The taste of ruby chocolate is described as a ‘fruity flavour reminiscent of berries’ with a ‘mild sweetness’. The new Kit Kats, named ‘Everyday Nuts and Cranberry’, will have a nut and cranberry topping which seems like the perfect match.

There are two products in the ‘Everyday Nuts and Cranberry’ range, both are bite-sized treats, designed to serve as a little break time snack.

One of the offerings is a large bag of individually packaged mini Kit Kats.

And in a handy, resealable stand-up pouch is some Kit Kat chunks.

If you prefer to stick to an old classic, both types are available in milk chocolate instead of ruby.

They will go on sale in supermarkets and convenience stores from 25th March. The pouch will cost 158 yen, while the bag of mini Kit Kats will set you back 600 yen.
