New details are out

As announced in September, the world's first official Doraemon store is slated to open on December 1st, 2019 at Diver City in Odaiba, Tokyo. The opening coincides with important milestones the beloved series is celebrating this year and next: the anime began airing on Japanese TV 40 years ago in April, and 2020 will mark 50 years since the manga was first serialized.

Introducing... a name and logo!

Now, in a new press release, we've learned more details about the official store, beginning with it's name, "Doraemon Future Department Store" (ドラえもん未来デパート doraemon mirai depāto in Japanese).

What's in (the) store?

The Doraemon Future Department Store will not only sell goods but will also provide experience-driven retail-tainment. Through their in-store experiences, "customers will feel as if they're using the secret gadgets which appear in the Doraemon series."

The store will be divided into three zones, the Secret Gadget Lab, the Customization Zone and the Shop zone.

After passing through the entrance area, you'll find the Secret Gadget Lab （ひみつ道具ラボ himitsu dōgu labo) attraction zone where you'll be able to try out Doraemon's secret gadgets and test their features (?!) for yourself.

Next, you'll discover the Customization Zone (カストマイズゾーン）where you'll be able to create your very own one-and-only original Doraemon goods.

Finally, in the Shop zone, you'll find Doraemon Future Department Store exclusive original goods and a whole range of Doraemon merchandise.
