Haagen-Dazs Japan aren’t shy about experimenting with distinctly Japanese ingredients in their ice cream. Every year is like a rolling lineup of exciting limited edition flavours including tastes often found in traditional Japanese desserts such as soybean, purple sweet potato, and the ever-popular matcha green tea powder.

But the range in which these flavours take on a whole new fancier image is Haagen-Dazs’ ‘Japonais’ series, which was created in association with convenience store 7-Eleven to present a genuine taste of Japan.

Their newest creation is a Japanese take on an Italian classic, the ‘Kinako Tiramisu’. Kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) sorbet creates a rich sweetness, while another layer is made up of mascarpone ice cream and kinako (roasted soybean flour). The tiramisu-inspired ice cream’s bottom level is made up of espresso syrup-soaked sponge with even more kinako flavour. The top layer is sprinkled with lightly roasted kinako to ensure its scent hits your nose as soon as you open the lid.

Haagen-Dazs’ Japonais range can only be found in 7-Elevens, costing 334 yen plus tax.
