Japanese Amusement Park Builds Gigantic 120-Meter Godzilla Structure

The release of the first Godzilla film in 1954 heralded a genre of Japanese pop culture dedicated specifically to giant monsters. From having a larger-than-life replica towering over one of Tokyo’s busiest districts, to having themed merchandise being released to this day, it’s safe to say that Japan’s original kaiju has rightfully earned itself the title of “King of the Monsters”.
As additional proof of Godzilla’s lasting popularity, Amnibus, an online shop that sells anime and Japanese pop culture merchandise, recently released dress shoes inspired by the scaly giant monster.

The main hint of the shoes being Godzilla-themed comes from the insoles. They come embroidered with Godzilla’s footprint and the original film’s Japanese logo. The bright red color is also a nod to the color used for Godzilla’s name in the Japanese movie poster.
This same color is also used on the laces, but once worn, the shoes don’t look too different from any other dress shoe, so you can take a piece of the kaiju with you without standing out too much.
The Godzilla dress shoes are priced at 19,800 yen, and can be reserved online through Amnibus’ website. Reservations are open until August 20, with deliveries starting from mid-November 2020.
